Fall is arriving here in the Midwest as leaves drop from the trees and days gets shorter. As I write this, we are honoring the Fall Equinox, a day of perfect balance of sunlight and moonlight. Since I am a sunshine girl, this is not always a fun time of the year for me - I prefer summer days to winter cold any time! And yet I love the changing of the seasons, the chance to cocoon into our home, and cuddle up with my family.
My body felt the shift this week and for the first time in a long time, I was sick. Which is a frustrating thing since it doesn't happen often - I want to know why and how to manage it or prevent it from happening again! This time, I was curled up in bed for a couple days, holding my tender stomach, surrendering to the releasing and healing that my body apparently needed. I changed plans, napped, made tea, put on my favorite calming music, and slowed down the pace dramatically. Physically and emotionally preparing for fall and the arrival of winter.. letting go of the summer as I reflected on all that happened in such a short amount of time.
It's interesting to note that I just made a video on muscle-testing last weekend, teaching through example how to trust what your body is telling you. No coincidence, I am sure, that my body asked me to trust at a deeper level this week as I used muscle-testing to guide me in what to eat or drink in each moment!
This morning, I learned more about the changing of the seasons and its impact on our health from Andrea Henkels, our guest on the Healing Our Souls for this week. She has great wisdom for us!
I am feeling steadier today, open to whatever new adventures are arriving as I let go of the ones from this summer. Feeling grateful for all of the beautiful lessons along the way in my journey!
