It has been quite a week, hasn't it?! The world has felt very tumultuous as we have watched changes rippling out politically in the US... and then the reactions being expressed from the rest of our global community.
We are beginning a year unlike any other in our history, which can make us feel fear and judgment for the changes to come, or excited anticipation for the potential of all that can be co-created in humanity.
Or perhaps a crazy mix of both at the same time!
Life is a beautiful harmony of physical and spiritual and sometimes it all flows perfectly, and sometimes not, right?
To add to the emotional global ride of this week, I also celebrated my 46th birthday, which in numerology is a One Year of new beginnings (4+6=10=1). As we are also in a One Year in 2017 (2+1+7=10=1), the "journey of change, new beginnings, independence, and becoming who you really are" is more intense, according to Creative Numerology.
Typically I love my birthdays and soak up all of the attention and love like a big dose of sunshine. This year, it just felt more intense... almost too intense to receive. Have you ever felt that way? Like it's hard to let all of the love in? You know that it will feel amazing and yet there's some resistance in you to fully opening up your heart and feeling the beauty all around you. That was my experience over the past few days.
And the word I kept coming back to is Steady.
Steady - "Firmly fixed, supported, or balanced; not shaking or moving."
Meditation is my daily practice that brings balance and support. So on my birthday, I sat in the quiet and felt all that was moving through me... and found steadiness internally.
I would like to share a little of the guidance I felt from within that brought me peace this weekend.
How do I balance the Physical and Spiritual?
"You hold steady.
Feel each emotion as it comes up in you, and then breathe, get back to steady again.
You pause. Be in the moment.
Open your eyes and see what is happening around you in your environment.
Notice the details. Use all of your senses - hear, see, smell, taste, touch.
Feel the gifts of the physical.
Light, Sound, Breath are the Bridge to the Spiritual.
So absorb what THIS moment is teaching you through these mediums.
Be Here Now
Slow it all down.
Bring all of your attention and focus IN.
Until all of your awareness is simply on Your Breath.
And then Breathe slowly and deeply
Until your mind becomes empty and you can't quite hold onto thoughts
Sit gently in the Stillness.
And find your answers."
